Qatari vs. Qatari

Posted on 6:36 AM, under

Qatarliving.com is one of the websites that i like to take a look at once every while. It has useful information, especially for expats. It also has a forum that many expats in Qatar can share events, experiences and other stuff.

When I visit Qatarliving I generally look for complaints and incidents those expats face here in the country. Honestly, I don’t really care what they think of us (Qataris). They can always go anywhere else if they’re not comfortable in the country. However, I do care where on morals line my people stand. It should upset me when a sick citizen acts like a savage and it definitely pleases me when a Qatari man shows the generosity and kindness that, we think, we got by default from claiming to be Muslims.

I took some snap shots and I’ll like the share them with my blog.

- After telling a story of a Qatari kid driving a BMW who was making donuts, then he cut into the cars line because he couldn’t wait and finally he parked in the middle of the streat, the expats says :

- Another incident:

Many of the forum members replied to that post and mentioned similar stories that happened to them.
one of the replies was :

- Are you offended by this question? well, you shouldn't be. Many of us give this impression very happily. The only reason for them to give this impression is that they really ARE arrogant and unfriendly.

The forum, sadly, has man questions and comments about Sexual harassments, driving morals and other stuff.

As I said I don’t really care what they think. Some of them come with the prejudice that all Qataris are rude immoral.

A big smile is drawn on my face when I read how many of them have encountered with Qataris close enough to know that they’re not all ignorant.

It’s not really about what do we want people to think of us. People’s impression is, indeed, a mirror that reflects our actions. Good morals do NOT come by default from being a Muslim or any other religion. Sadly enough, many of us might harm the image of Islam by his/her ignorant actions.

The point of this topic is pretty obvious. There is no need to add anything more to it. I, myself, would love to see all Qataries and non-Qataries happy, smiling, helping each other in this beautiful small country.

Oh come on. We all know that absolutely all Qataris are arrogant, ignorant, wear white gay dresses and wear gay sandals. They are also appaling drivers, they have no idea what courtesy is and they are ... well... QATARI!!!

    LOL

Ok don't kill me, you know it's not true. Actually, most if not all Qataris I know are really nice. Like, REALLY nice. And I actually think that thobs are sexy. Take a Qatari guy out of his thob and dress him up in jeans - and he will lose half his charm and appeal, no idea why, but that's the truth. There is just this something about traditional dress that makes is so awesome.

You know, you should only blog in English. Now I really want to know what your Arabic posts say!

    hahaha

:P thanks for sharing your opinion about qataris wearing thobs :P

i'll try wearing thob more often from now on lol.

the problem is i'm really into Arabic language and i'm trying to improve my writing in arabic since i almost never use it. it's sad that i don't even use my first language in my everyday life.

:P i guess ur thinking "you should also learn how to fix ur grammar mistakes in english" hehe

so yeah, i'll try to post more in english cuz apparently arabs don't like to read !

thanks for the comments Qatar Cat :)

Your English is better than my Arabic (huh? what Arabic? lol) so I wouldn't dream of telling you to correct your grammar mistakes :)

Abour Arabic - I totally understand. It's a pity to watch the language in its original form virtually disappear, the more the Arab nations develop. English seems to encroach and take over!

I just realised that you haven't blogged since last century, so well if you don't feel like, no need to start on my account :) But I would like to read more of your insight on life. You have a way with your words (and thoughts).

BTW - I am sort of sorry now about that first comment I wrote back to you, I guess it was a little harsh, lol. Then again, so was yours! See, I am just so used to people bashing on me for no reason, and complaining whenever I write anything remotely related to any religion or culture. I am honestly fed up with being politically correct all the time, everywhere, including my private blog! I laugh at funny things, be they religious, cultural or whatever. I laugh at myself, my culture and my (non existent) religion a lot, too.

i haven't been writing anything because no one passed by my blog before. so i wasn't bothered to put the tornado in my head on the blog.

i actually don't know how to blog. this is my first blog. i've been passing by other blogs (like yours) hoping that i'll learn something, and i have learned a lot so far.

I'm sorry about that comment on your blog. i thought you were one of those westerners who live here and criticize every other move people do! i would've been harsher if i didn't agree with what you wrote. :P

I need to learn more about blogging and managing the blog :) i'll be passing by your blog more often now that i've added it to my RSS feed menu !

RSS feed? See, you already know more about blogging than I do!

I say keep on blogging, it would be a waste of good opinions and views!

Ahmad on December 11, 2009 at 2:06 AM

DreamerMe on December 11, 2009 at 3:19 AM

    Get it? Lol.

Ahmad on December 11, 2009 at 3:28 AM

:) I have some stuff in mind to vent about, i've just been busy with life and uni, especially that we're in the middle of finals now.

keep checking, hopefully by next week i'll have time to post something. I'm thinking of something more positive.

DreamerMe on December 11, 2009 at 4:10 AM

Finals?? Same here, actually. I, too, have alot going on in my mind and am itching to just write about it. I hope I can get around to writing soon...

Good luck with the finals, insha'allah you'll ace it!

Ahmad on December 12, 2009 at 2:35 AM

    Thanks, Dreamer.

If you have finals too, why are you wasting your time going over blogs?

    :) start studying :P

    got a blog?

DreamerMe on December 12, 2009 at 8:42 AM

I'll study soon enough. It's just that I need to clear my mind for a bit.

Reading people's blog helps me do that; and also have a bit of insight on how he/she thinks about different types of topics.

Yea, I got a blog; over on MSN spaces, but I fail majorly in updating it, so yea =D

Ahmad on December 12, 2009 at 12:20 PM

    care to share?

DreamerMe on December 19, 2009 at 10:33 PM

Um, yea I might.... just gimme some time to finish finals =D
